Warehouse Reception – Gaithersburg
Manna is excited to be partnering with 5 local Farmers Markets this year. Volunteers are needed to staff a table for Manna, collecting food and funds while engaging with customers! Toward the end of the market, the volunteers will assist the Market Manager in purchasing food from the farmers with funds collected that day. When our truck arrives, you help bag and load the food on to our Manna truck.

Food Distribution/Warehouse Volunteer. Volunteers (16 years of age or older), help with a variety of tasks that may include any/all of the following:
- Food Distribution: performing a variety of tasks geared towards creating boxes of fresh food that our clients will receive on that same day. It involves, taping boxes together, cutting boxes apart, sorting through food, putting food in boxes.
- Pre-Sorting donations of non-perishable food items.
- Housekeeping tasks related to the daily upkeep of Manna’s warehouse.
The work is physical and you should be comfortable standing for a couple of hours; you may engage in some light to moderate lifting (5 – 25+ pounds) as well as bending and reaching. Please note that our warehouse is very busy and this is a fast-paced environment; volunteers must be able to work independently and easily transition between tasks with minimal instruction.
We kindly request that you register for a specific day so we reserve a space for you on our volunteer schedule. Once a date is confirmed on our schedule, we will send you a confirmation email along with volunteer information and a volunteer agreement to complete.
Days available: Monday – Friday; volunteers arrive @ 9am and stay until 2pm.
Each and every time you volunteer with Manna we kindly ask that you register in advance. (We do not accept walk-in volunteers due the nature of our daily operations.)

Help promote this one-day food drive at Giant Grocery Stores and collect food donations from customers.
PLEASE NOTE: This volunteer opportunity requires a firm commitment due to the limited number of volunteer spaces available for each shift. Please double check your calendar to confirm your availability prior to registering.
This request form must be filled out by someone that is 18 or older. VOLUNTEERS UNDER THE AGE OF 18 MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT THAT IS 21 OR OLDER.
Due to limited space at the store and to avoid overwhelming shoppers as they enter/exit the store, we limit the number of volunteers – at each shift – to a maximum of 5 (including the parent/adult supervisor). At least one adult supervisor (21 or older) needs to be present at all times.
Students can earn Student Service Learning (SSL) hours.
