Crossroads Community Food Network

In its 20 years, Crossroads Farmers Market has pioneered nutrition incentives, matching dollars that double SNAP and WIC benefits. 60% of shoppers use these benefits, making Crossroads a national model for equitable, community-rooted food access. Central to this work is a longstanding partnership with Manna Food Center, spanning nutrition education, gleaning, and advocacy for systemic change across Montgomery County.

Steven Mandel, posthumously

Steven Mandel passed away suddenly in February 2026. Throughout his career as a labor lawyer and into retirement, he dedicated his life to public service and fighting food insecurity. As a dedicated volunteer with Manna Food Center and Community Food Rescue, he rescued surplus food from local businesses and delivered it to neighbors in need. He also served the Critical Issues Forum, Crossroads Community Food Network, and Route 28 Quince Orchard Interfaith Team.

Through its Gaithersburg office, OpenText has been a dedicated partner to Manna, hosting annual company-wide food and fund drives that have provided food and funds to our community. Employees also regularly volunteer in Manna’s Gaithersburg warehouse, demonstrating OpenText’s ongoing commitment to fighting hunger and strengthening our community.
