Volunteer Opportunities

Please note that Box Packing opportunities are limited. Right now, we are only able to schedule three shifts per week.

Groups will be asked to pack boxes of non-perishable food in preparation for distribution. Event involves lifting heavy crates, boxes of food, taping boxes up using tape guns, and stacking them on to pallets 

Volunteers: Volunteers must be 16+ years old. Volunteers should be comfortable bending, lifting and standing on their feet for the duration of the event. Volunteers must be able to work independently.

Student Service Learning:  Students can earn service hours

Group Size:  5-12 volunteers (including the adult supervisor). 

Volunteers under 18 must have adequate adult supervision.

Training: Training takes place onsite.

Availability: Groups may schedule 1 event at a time.

The volunteer group leader is responsible for making sure all volunteers complete a Volunteer Agreement Form and are registered for the event prior to arrival.

Training: The volunteer group leader is responsible for attending an in-person training prior to the event, as Manna staff will not be present at your event. Training can be scheduled Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday between 8:30am – 12pm, and will last approximately 20 minutes.

Availability: Groups may schedule 1 event at a time.

The volunteer group leader is responsible for making sure all volunteers complete a Volunteer Agreement Form and are registered for the event prior to arrival

Groups come to volunteer at Manna’s warehouse and help sort non-perishable food items in to designated bins.  The task entails checking expiration dates on all food items and then pre-sorting them. Volunteers must be able to work independently.

Volunteers: Volunteers must be 16+ years old.

Group Size:  5-10 volunteers

Training: Volunteers or Groups will be trained onsite. Volunteers must be comfortable bending, lifting, and standing on their feet for the duration of the event.

Volunteers sort and review the quality of frozen meat rescued from the grocery store and pack bags with a variety of items in preparation for distribution.

Group Size: 5-10 volunteers

Volunteers: Volunteers must be 16+ years old. Volunteers under 18 must have adequate adult supervision. Volunteers must be comfortable bending, lifting, and standing on their feet for the duration of the event. Volunteers must wear close-toed/heeled shoes and clothing that may get dirty.

Training: Groups will be trained onsite.

Availability: Groups may schedule 2 events at a time.

The volunteer group leader is responsible for making sure all volunteers complete a Volunteer Agreement Form and are registered for the event prior to arrival.

Small groups come to volunteer at Manna’s warehouse and help sort through rescued food from the grocery stores including produce, prepared meals, and dairy items. Volunteers will pack good food for distribution and compost/trash remaining items.

Volunteers must be able to work independently. 

Group Size: 8-10 volunteers

Volunteers: Volunteers must be 16+ years old. Volunteers under 18 must have adequate adult supervision. Volunteers must be comfortable bending, lifting, and standing on their feet for the duration of the event.
