Volunteer Opportunities

Manna has volunteer opportunities for both individuals and groups. Volunteers who work at Manna's warehouse on weekdays must be at least 18 years of age. Unless otherwise noted volunteers under the age of 16 must bring an adult supervisor to work alongside them in group activities.
Saturdays at the Rockville Farmers' Market
(seasonal from May - October)Staff a table at the Rockville Farmers Market and encourage people to buy a few extra fruits and vegetables to donate to Manna. We usually schedule one family, group or individual for each market day. Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Responsibilities include:
- Come to Manna Food Center a day or two before to pick up a light weight table, small tent, banner and crates.
- Set up between 8:30 and 9 am at the market.
- Ask folks to "buy a little extra" and donate fresh fruit and vegetables to Manna Food Center
- Thank them for their donation.
- After the event return the supplies back to Manna and place the fruit and vegetables in the fridge.
Family Box Packing Days
Manna Food Center Family Volunteer Days are a roaring success. Volunteers gather at the Rockville Manna Food Center warehouse to fill boxes with non-perishable food that are later distributed to clients. This is very hands on and requires physical activity. Volunteers should be age 7 and up.Space is limited and a confirmed reservation is required. Reservations open on the first of the month before the event, i.e. July 1st for August dates. To reserve a box packing space, email your requested dates to volunteer@mannafood.org along with a phone number and the number of spaces requested.
We have five Family Packing Days each month -
1. First Sunday 3pm
2. Second Thursday 7pm
3. Second Saturday 9am
4. Third Monday 7pm
5. Fourth Thursday 7pm
Food Sorting
Volunteers can help Manna sort the food donations that we receive from our community. You will separate donated food into different food categories, check expiration dates, and discard damaged products. Manna Food Center can never get enough fresh fruits and vegetables for our clients. If you are a gardener, help us while enjoying the fun of playing in the soil. Just plant some extra vegetables or fruits and then deliver the produce to the Manna Food Center. We accept donations of all sizes - Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4 pm.Food & Fund Drives
Please remember Manna Food Center can ALWAYS use donations of food and funds. Organizing a Food & Funds drive is a worthwhile and fun activity for your family, community group, neighborhood, business, or faith based organization.Client Service Representative
