Bring Your Volunteer Group
Date(s): Friday, February 15, 2013 - Friday, May 31, 2013Hunger doesn't take time off, and here at Manna our clients come in everyday to receive emergency food relief. During the holiday season, many in our community join together to fight hunger in Montgomery County by volunteering their time at Manna. But what happens when winter turns to spring? We know there are still many clients who will be here in the coming months, and we need your help to provide them with the nutritious food that has been donated.
Monday-Friday, adult volunteers (18 years of age or older) help with a variety of tasks geared towards creating boxes of fresh food that our clients will receive on that same day. It involves, taping boxes together, cutting boxes apart, sorting through food, putting food in boxes, and helping move boxes out to client cars. The work is physical and volunteers should be comfortable standing on their feet and comfortable with light to moderate lifting (5 - 25 pounds). Bring your corporate group, your church group, or just a few friends and volunteer with Manna. Email volunteer@mannafood.org and ask about giving of your time during the week to support your hungry neighbors.

Stock the Shelves: Hold A Food Drive Today
Date(s): Sunday, May 19, 2013 - Tuesday, December 31, 2013Manna serves thousands of county residents each year, and relies on the dedication and giving spirit of our neighbors who donate food, funds, and time. During the holidays, many people feel compelled to help feed the hungry and by late January have all but forgotten that hunger is every day. We know at Manna that hunger isn't just around the holidays, but every day for thousands of families, children, and seniors.
Pending cuts to the SNAP (food stamp) program as well as the continuing economic woes ensure that Manna's services will still be needed for a long time to come.
Now is the time we need your help most. You can keep our shelves stocked with fresh produce, dried goods, and canned nutritious veggies throughout the year: Hold a food drive in your workplace or community.
We'll provide you with the resources to succeed in your food drive efforts. Email fooddrive@mannafood.org for detailed information and a healthy food drive wish list.
The over 184,000 people who will rely on Manna this year rely on you to donate food. Won't you join us in fighting hunger in 2013?
