Donations Needed to Support Goldberg Smart Sacks Program

Children are the hidden face of hunger in our community - 32.3% of students in Montgomery County Public Schools benefit from the free and reduced priced meal program. Every Friday, Manna's Karen Goldberg Smart Sack's program provides over 2,000 elementary school students with a backpack of kid-friendly and nutritious meals and snacks to eat over the weekend. We need your help to keep up with the increase in need!

Please help us fill Manna's Goldberg Smart Sacks and our children's plates with the most healthful choices by donating items that are rich in whole grains, low in sodium, and with little or no added sugar. We are especially interested in the following items:

8 ounce or smaller cans of:
Vegetables (such as spinach, corn, green beans, beets...)
Beans
Tuna, salmon, chicken, and turkey packed in water
Fruit packed in water or juice

Individual, microwaveable bowls of:
Whole grain pasta
Brown rice
Soup or chili

Macaroni and cheese (made with whole grain)

Instant Oatmeal Packets (Original, Apple/Cinnamon, Maple Brown Sugar or Cinnamon and Spice)

Individual, shelf-stable milk boxes

Healthful Snack Items:
18 ounce or smaller jars of natural peanut butter or other nut butters
Individual boxes of raisins or other dried fruit
