Manna Mourns the Passing of Karen Goldberg
It is with a heavy heart that Manna announces the passing of Karen A. Goldberg, former Smart Sacks Director for Manna Food Center. After a valiant fight with cancer, Karen passed on Saturday, October 6. Her memorial was held on Sunday, October 7 at Hines Rinaldi Funeral Home. Karen was a part of the Manna family for 5 years, nurturing and developing the Smart Sacks program. Martin Coulter, Chair of the Board of Directors, said “Our hearts go out to Karen’s family and to those who knew her and loved her. Karen will be truly missed.”
Her husband Mike shared Karen’s spirit with those in attendance at the memorial, reminding us that she was not just a caring and warm person, but that she was a truly honest and incredible friend, mother, wife, and advocate for those in the world who need help. Karen always had a smile on her face, and her warmth drew people in. She reminded us daily of Mother Theresa’s words that a smile is “an action of love, a gift to that person, a beautiful thing.”
Karen asked that we celebrate her life and carry on her gift of love to those in our lives. Although our hearts ache for her loss, we hope you will join us in remembering Karen through selfless gifts of kindness and love to your own friends, family, and strangers in need.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to Manna Food Center Smart Sacks Program and Montgomery Hospice Casey House.
